118 West Capital Management, LLC, is a boutique investment advisor focused on opportunistic investing in the global transition towards clean energy.

The firm was founded by Harshan Jeyakumar, CFA, a former equity research analyst and private advisor to the Cleantech sector. Harshan has over 15 years of investment and operational experience in the Cleantech sector.

118 West Capital Investment Focus

The investment objective of 118 West Capital is the preservation and compounding of capital over the long term.

Our portfolio is long-biased and “low net.” In general, we concentrate on 12 – 15 long stock positions, a smaller number of short positions, and hold a significant cash balance to be able to take advantage of the big market dislocations when they arise. Options on indexes are used to hedge broad market risk.

This concentration requires high conviction in all of the positions in the portfolio. The analytical approach is heavy on business and industry fundamentals, focusing on each company’s technology, products, distribution, competitive landscape, and most importantly its long-term potential to achieve our stated objective.  

While at any given time there are usually many businesses that reflect strongly on these factors, the most important principle is to buy into these great businesses when they are available at a reasonable price.
